Mikko departs Barren Earth

Finland’s death/prog metal masters Barren Earth have announced the departure of vocalist Mikko Kotamäki from the group. Since the band’s inception, Mikko has performed vocals on all of the band’s studio recordings, consisting of the Our Twilight debut EP, & 2 full-length albums.

Band statement:
"Dear friends. We regret to announce the departure of Mikko Kotamäki from BARREN EARTH.
Due to conflicting schedules, Mikko cannot contribute to BARREN EARTH's activities any longer. The decision was made by mutual agreement with absolutely no drama involved.
We will keep working on new material, and will launch search for a new vocalist shortly.
BARREN EARTH wants to thank Mikko for his crucial input for BARREN EARTH's works and wishes him all the best in the future."

Viva Emptiness 10th anniversary edition. UK tour dates announced

Fresh from their appearance at Download Festival, Katatonia, the Swedish purveyors of dark rock/metal, have been revealed as very special guests on Paradise Lost’s ‘Tragic Illusion’ 25th anniversary tour in October alongside Lacuna Coil.

Concurrently also celebrating their own 10th anniversary for their masterful sixth album ‘Viva Emptiness’, the band will be performing the album in its entirety each night to make these shows even more special.

Originally released in 2003 it is regarded by many, including the band themselves, as being among Katatonia's finest albums. ‘Viva Emptiness’ cemented the band's reputation as a major force, combining refined metal with doom and gloom angst-laden rock. A classic of the genre.

To coincide with the shows and the album’s 10-year anniversary ‘Viva Emptiness’ will be entirely re-mixed and re-mastered by David Castillo plus enhanced with new artwork courtesy of Travis Smith for a re-release on 4th November via Peaceville.

Katatonia w/
Paradise Lost & Lacuna Coil
30th October – Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton
31st October – 02 ABC, Glasgow
1st November – The Ritz – Manchester
3rd November – Camden Roadhouse, London
