However, as all members of Barren Earth were previously known from other notable bands, there was also the inevitable labelling as a ‘supergroup’, and the accompanying doubts of ‘it will never last’ and ‘it’ll be a short-lived thing’.

But the skeptics have now been proved wrong! Following the release of the debut album, Barren Earth has played several shows, not only in its native country of Finland, but in continental Europe, and most importantly, in North America, where as a part of the Finnish Metal Tour 2, they played 28 shows alongside countrymen Ensiferum and Finntroll. This has naturally spurred the band’s creativity further, and the results of this can be heard on Barren Earth’s second album, ‘The Devil’s Resolve’, which will be released March 12th on Peaceville Records on CD & vinyl, with artwork provided by notable US-based artist Paul Romano (Mastodon).

Mixed by Dan Swanö (Opeth/Katatonia) at Unisound, ‘The Devil’s Resolve’ continues with all the trademarks one has come to associate with Barren Earth: brutal riffs, gloomy growls, majestic melodies, as well as acoustic and progressive passages. But this time the band has delved even deeper, and goes to the extremes. What was brutal on the first release is now ultra so. Likewise, what was proggy earlier is now extra so.

Never a band which likes to travel on the middle of the road, Barren Earth will take you on a journey through musical landscapes encompassing brutal death metal, doomy vocals, trippy 70’s prog lunacy, pastoral passages and… bagpipes, and then returning back to full-on metal mayhem again. You better check this one out – this is as good as Finnish Metal gets.

Barren Earth recently also completed work on the video for the album track ‘The Rains Begin’.

"Well, we've finished recording a few new tracks for the upcoming collection album "All Tomorrow's Funerals" and they came out brutal and heavy as hell. Along with the newly written songs, we did a revamped version of "Mauled To Death" which is the very last of the old songs that needed a proper album quality recording. This album will also contain all four EP's, all of which are out of print as well as a compilation track from 1991, so the grand total is 22 tracks. It's something we've wanted to do for quite awhile, getting all the loose chunks together in one place rather than having them split up and added on as bonus tracks here and there. Everything has been painstakingly re-mastered with the band's guidance and sounds better and more crushing than ever. And don't worry, we didn't get carried away and ruin anything! Combine all that with killer new cover art from Matt Cavotta and we've got one hell of release in the works. Look for it in February 2012.

We are now working on all new material for the next album, due out late 2012/early 2013 and we can definitely promise more of what you would expect from Autopsy. There will be no compromise and no holding back. If you want 100% pure death metal brutality, you will certainly get it."

Originally released in 2001, this is the third album of true Norwegian Black Metal from Carpathian Forest, as 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of this classic album. It was recorded at Sound Suite Studios, produced & mixed by Terje Refsnes (Tristania, Gehenna, Sirenia).

The tracks from this album were recorded at the same time as second album ‘Strange Old Brew’, offers a continuation of the grim Black Metal featured on that album, and takes the line of experimentation ever further to great effect, alongside their trademark brand of raw Black Metal mixed with inspiration from the 80’s Black Metal scene & rock/punk genres overdosing on death and misanthropy.

The band features mainman Nattefrost, also known for his solo-career, alongside his main band. Also appearing on ‘Morbid Fascination of Death’ is Tchort on bass, familiar from his previous work with Emperor’s debut album and more diverse acts such as Green Carnation.

The album features a cover of the Mayhem track ‘Ghoul’ and a reworked version of the song ‘Carpathian Forest’, originally released on the ‘Through Chasm, Caves & Titan Woods’ EP.

This edition of 'Morbid Fascination of Death' is presented on strictly limited vinyl.

Darkthrone began in the late 80’s as a thrash/death metal act & progressed through technical death/doom metal experimentation to become legends of the black metal world & one of the original leading bands of the Norwegian scene.

'Sempiternal Past' contains all 4 of Darkthrone's cult demo releases recorded in 1988-1989 ('Land of Frost', 'A New Dimension', 'Thulcandra', & 'Cromlech'); now fully restored & remastered from the best tape sources available. Also included on this release are the tracks recorded at Oslo TV in 1989, along with a restored version of the rare song 'God of Disturbance & Friction'.

'Sempiternal Past' is presented on limited double vinyl with gatefold sleeve, with the sleeve including band notes, plus rare images & photos.

Poetic, funereal and featuring an inspirational combination of pounding guitar riffs and sombre atmospheric passages, The Barghest O' Whitby tells the chilling tale of a supernatural entity hell bent on revenge.

Recorded at Futureworks Studios, Manchester with long-time production partner & engineer, Mags, the release is the first to feature violin/keyboardist Shaun MacGowan, and sees the return of Shaun 'Winter' Taylor Steels to the drum-stool.
